Khabib Nurmagomedov defeats Dustin Poirier to improve to 28-0

On a three-year unbeaten run and coming off of an impressive win over featherweight champion Max Holloway, Poirier entered his bout with Nurmagomedov with an interim title around his waist and a ton of momentum. Victory was not in the cards for “The Diamond” though as Nurmagomedov used his superior wrestling to ground Poirier and finish him with a rear-naked choke in round three.

Nurmagomedov returns to action this Saturday when he once again puts his title on the line against an interim champion, Justin Gaethje. The lightweight stars meet in the main event of UFC 254 in Abu Dhabi.
